Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Zizzle at app.zizzle.io or zizzle.io (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.

2. Who we are

The Service is operated by Zizzle eLearning Inc. ("Zizzle", "we", "us", or "our"). For questions about these Terms, contact us at kevin.li@zizzle-app.com.

3. The Service

Zizzle is a web-based Mandarin Chinese learning platform. It provides character browsing, mnemonic stories, spaced-repetition quizzes, stroke-order practice, and progress tracking. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

4. Accounts

You may use parts of the Service without an account. To save progress and sync across sessions, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use at kevin.li@zizzle-app.com.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from the Service without prior written permission.
• Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Zizzle's mnemonic stories, images, or character data without permission.
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

6. Intellectual property

The Service and its original content — including mnemonic stories, illustrations, character data, and software — are the property of Zizzle eLearning Inc. or its content suppliers and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial learning purposes.

Stroke data is sourced from the Make Me a Hanzi project (CC BY 4.0, Google). Character writing animations use Hanzi Writer (MIT, Jordan Skarbek).

7. User content

The Service does not currently allow users to submit public content. Learning progress data you generate is owned by you and stored on your behalf. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

8. Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. These are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party services you use.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zizzle eLearning Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed USD $50.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zizzle eLearning Inc. and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from any claim, demand, or damage, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in Utah for the resolution of any disputes.

14. Changes to these Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
